The Tudors

The life and times of King Henry VIII is enough to fill DVRs full of drama, and Showtime’s The Tudors does just that. The show, in its 3rd season, gives us a new look at Henry’s reign in England. The men of The Tudors include Jonathan Rhys Meyers as King Henry VIII, Henry Cavill as Charles Brandon, Jeremy Northam as thomas More, James Frain as Thomas Cromwell and Callum Blue as Knivert, among others.

Henry Cavill is best known as Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, in Showtime’s The Tudors. Cavill, a British actor, had a few roles here and there prior to playing Brandon, but The Tudors gave him his big break. He was Stephanie Meyer’s first choice to play Edward Cullen in Twilight, but buy the time they started filming, Cavill couldn’t pull off the look of a 17-year-old. The role, of course, went to Robert Pattinson.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers had a bit of a rough start in life. His dad took off when he was 3, he spent some time in an Irish orphanage, was expelled from school by the age of 16 and was discovered by a talent scout in a local pool hall. Things have looked up for the Dublin-born Meyers, though, and he’s got a sweet gig playing King Henry VIII on Showtime’s The Tudors.
